Biggest win of the year. An SEC team who finished 3-4 away from home.

UCF chose not to play a tough OOC schedule and paid for it. Can't schedule four patsies then claim national titles when you play in a bad conference. Maine, Georgia tech, Maryland, FIU with the only remotely close to tough one being canceled.

Sorry but if a legit opponent had been on there...I'd argue with it. They didn't put one up. In the end we can't reward teams for playing no one all year. You really think Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, and OU don't go unbeaten with UCF's patsies filled schedule..Bama wins every game on that schedule by 40 points.

You did see a healthy Bama defense right?

You also played them at a neutral site and not Jordan Hare.

If you also think that they were motivated in their Bowl game as much as they were motivated in the Iron Bowl then that's hilarious.

I'm not making excuses for Bama losing. It's part of the game. We lost, they played better. Injuries happen, home field advantage is a thing.

If you want to get serious though Bama beats Auburn on Jan 1 just as many times or more than UCF does.

That's all conjecture. What's factual is that UCF beat Auburn by 7 and Alabama lost to Auburn by 12.

No, but you're making claims that are not backed by evidence. I'm making claims that are.

If you say you'd crush us or you'd crush Auburn, that's a conjecture.

If I say we'd have a chance against you because we beat Auburn who beat you, that's factual.

1996 FSU has a better argument for a national championship than 2017 UCF.

You can't claim a CFP-era national title when the best teams you played had at least 3 losses and weren't playoff contenders.
EDIT: I guess USF went 10-2 and didn't even play for a conference title.

"Crush" was not in my vocabulary.

I already said you'd have a shot against us.

I did say that Bama playing UCFs schedule including Auburn in Jan would have a better record at the end of the year more times than UCF would.

Memphis finished with 3 losses, but 2 of them were to us.

How many games did FSU lose in 1996?

8-5 Iowa State beat them. Army beat the 3rd or 4th best AAC team (Navy, IIRC, is AAC).
10-2 USF lost to 7-5 Houston and very nearly lost to a 6-7 Texas Tech team.

FSU went 1-1 against the accepted national champions that season, 10-0 against the rest including 2 top 15 teams (by season's end). But FSU isn't desperate to claim titles or that certainly could be a shared national title. FSU went 8-0-0 in 1950 but we don't claim a national title that year because it would be retarded.

Not Auburn...

Auburn was not on the regular season schedule. UCF fans going crazy over this.

Here is my take on it:

FACT - UCF went 11-0 in regular season.
FACT - your schedule sucked.
FACT - Maryland was your only P5 team in regular season.
FACT - you won your conference to finish 12-0.
FACT - you were awarded and opportunity to play Auburn based on your season.
FACT - there are 129 Div 1 Football Teams

FACT: you beat Auburn
FACT: you had 30 days to get up for this game to prove to the world and your outgoing coaching staff you belong. Very emotional game.
FACT: this game was win/win for UCF and lose/lose for Auburn. Either way UCF comes out looking good.

Now the fun part:

QUESTION - how many of the 129 teams in Div 1 would go 12-0 with your schedule.
ANSWER - a lot. Probably every P5 team at the top of their conference.

QUESTION - How many of those teams could get up for Auburn with 30 days to prepare.
ANSWER - who knows but probably a lot.

QUESTION - If UCF played tough P5 teams week in and week out, could they finish healthy and undefeated.
ANSWER - who knows, but doubtful since it is rarely done by teams in P5 conferences.

RESULT: you were awarded an opportunity to play Auburn, win and beat your chest due to a shitty schedule. A feat many teams could easily do (with your regular season schedule) You handled your "opportunity" against Auburn and deserve kudos but again so would many teams have done. Furthermore, if the CFB playoff committee decided to change things by adding G5 teams to the current 4 team model, it would fuck college football up forever. We would lose all the tough match ups. College football as we know it would be forever pussified. We are already fucking up the bowl tradition with the current model. NY6 games are not as relevant or hyped as before. JMO.

I agree except I think a few G5 teams could make the case: a couple Boise State and TCU teams that beat much better opponents than 10-4 Auburn. Maybe throw in 2008 Utah.

Here are some facts:

- UCF defeated the same number of top 25 teams as Alabama
- UCF defeated the same number of bowl teams as Alabama (6) despite playing in 1 fewer games in the regular season

- Common opponent: UCF 34 - Auburn 27 | Alabama 14 - Auburn 26
