The cops had no clue if he had a weapon or not and in that circumstance they are going to draw gun first because a taser puts them in immediate danger if the kid pulls a gun. It's very simple. They drew the gun as he approached because his hands where in his pockets. He pulled the knife as he got closer CHARGING the officers. They fired.

The only story here is they did their job and get to go home to their family. The kid who wanted to be a bad ass is now dead. It's darwinism, and I won't feel sorry for a thug being capped.

Cops immediate response to a guy's hands in pockets is not to draw their weapons with cross hairs on a civilian. There's 2 pigs, hypothetically 1 could have the taser ready while the other has his sidearm, so you're theory falls flat on it's face buddy.
