Bama beat TAMU in a nail-biter (who just lost to Awwbarn), and looked unimpressive beating a decent Ole Miss team ranked in the low 20s.
Oregon beat one ranked team, Washington, and looked decent doing it. But Washington lost again. They have faced no other teams with a pulse.
Meanwhile, FSU faced two (at the time) ranked teams and beat them by a combined scored of 114-14, including a win in one of the most hostile environments in CFB.
I defy you to list any logical reason(s) why FSU should not be number one AT THIS MOMENT. That could certainly change in the future, or even next week. But as of right now, FSU is playing like the best team in the country.
FACTOID!

Because we didn't score 500 points?

You shut out a ranked Ole Miss 25-0...we shut out ranked Maryland 63-0. /conversation

We're number 1 right now and will be number 1 after the polls come out. /conversation

Forgot about VT...that's a pretty decent win as well. You might be able to make a case for Bama at #1, but I still think it should be us right now. Oregon is a solid third, IMO...but they can change that with wins over UCLA and Stanford.

Can't fight blind homerism even though other teams' fans have said FSU has looked the best

Wait I thought Oregon looked the best?!? Make up your mind, America!

Yet we remain #1. We are the constant. We are the standard.
