Sounds like Gurley was trying to get paid off his name just like UGA, the NCAA, memorabilia dealers, sporting good stores, and everybody else was.

The concept is shitty that they can't make money off their own name but these kids know what's at stake.
And.....what is 3,000 gonna do for him right now?
I say go get a credit card with a 10,000 limit. Get cash advance for 10,000. Make minimum payment until April 2015. Pay in full with signing bonus.

So you agree that he broke the rules and should be punished :4thumbs

Yeah, I have no problem with it. It's a shitty rule and I honestly think that UGA could have covered this whole mess up like FSU, but they did the right thing.

I agree with what you are saying about the 3 grand, but think about it. A kid on scholarship that has everything paid for him gets $3000 to do with what he pleases. $3000 just for signing his name. What does he really lose? Future money? Nope. Possible championship ring? Nope, he's still on the team. Lower draft placement? Maybe, maybe not. A trophy that does nothing but collect dust? Yep.

Do you think Gurley should also do the right thing and explain what he was doing in a bar, underage, the night of the assault allegation? Should all players who have :420 or :drunk (underage) at any point in their career come forward and take their suspensions? Should every player who's had someone else write a paper for them come forward? If everyone did thestupidright thing, we might have to cancel games every week. :sadyes
It amazes me how many times I've heard different UGA fans brag about "doing the right thing", when they did the only thing they could do without the NCAA heading to Athens to sniff around for a month. Gurley got greedy, got baited, and got videotaped. There was no other option, unless they wanted to risk tUOS-like penalties.
