Is it a beach house or somewhere people would vacation? If not (or even if so), I would fix it up and rent it annually. Otherwise, you have to deal with the hassle of cleaning/repairing it every time someone's rental is up, paying Airbnb's cut and dealing with their terms, and all the time it does unoccupied.
If you really want to deal with short term rentals, I'd use something like VRBO instead.

Most renters are going to want to be on the beach. If you're talking about a 10 minute walk, maybe.bigbluebazooka wrote:my mortgage is a little over a $1000 a month.

They want both. I don't stay anywhere that isn't ON the beach.bigbluebazooka wrote:The want an area where the police weren’t defunded.
Is 10 min from the beach a different jurisdiction than on the beach?bigbluebazooka wrote:And yes I’m glad I bought my house when Trump had the interest rates at 2.9%. Biden fucked that up.
I did too, and put 20% down, but my mortgage is $2,500/mo.

:yes
We made like $130,000 off our previous house (thanks Zillow!) where we only lived 2 years, interest rates were sweet, and the house was much better than anything in its price range. Small neighborhood w/ great neighbors, and we don't plan on moving until both kids have moved out (another 17 years).
But for the same price, we could have had a large closet in SF or NYC. :sigh
