1. The Supreme Court ruled against the NCAA limiting "compensation" for student-athletes to scholarships on Monday, 2021-06-21. Some think this will increase the divide in talent for a lot of schools because Alabama's and Ohio State's players will generally be more profitable than TCU's or Oregon State's, AKA going to a less-popular school is like taking a pay cut for players. Nice job, Supreme Court. The NCAA needed to be LESS commercialized, not moreso.

2. The FBS is in talks about expanding the playoffs to 12 teams, including the Top 4 teams getting bye weeks. Hopefully the CFP committee will die with the 4-team format. I still think bowls are better, although at least when somebody like Alabama fails to win the SEC West, it will actually make sense if they win the national title with the 12-team format. They should change the name back to I-A in that case, because bowls might as well not exist.

It has definitely changed with the transfer portal though.

According to OpenDorse, seven male athletes earned over $100,000 from NIL from July 1 to Nov. 30 and 110 earned more than $10,000. It is believed that roughly 20 more athletes joined the 6 figure club since 11/30.

All NIL money has to be reported to the school and over 570 schools use OpenDorse software to do so.

Looks like TAMU is paying big money for the top recruiting class.
