Actually, only about 1.7 miles, according to researchers at Texas A&M:

So there we have it—the farthest distance a human eye can detect a candle flame is 2.76 kilometers.

So we only have 3745 times more candle power than we need? Great!

Except for the part of my quote that's in parenthesis. Seeing long distances works in space because it's a vacuum and there's nothing to distort light. On earth, there's water vapor and other particulates in the air to distort light, so we can't really see beyond 200 miles.

So you're arguing that a bright enough light could easily be seen across 100 mi of ocean? Let's test it. Loser pays.

How do you know that? Consider that the same people that tell you that the Earth is a sphere (although they've since changed their minds to say it's pear-shaped, although if we've been to space, why don't we know the exact shape of the Earth, since we'd have actually seen it?) also tell you:
- refugees are good
- Christmas bad
- Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone
- the Holocaust was real
- Hillary didn't commit crimes with her email server

So, maybe don't necessarily believe everything they tell you.
I wouldn't call myself a flat earther, but there are some questions that it raises that I haven't seen answers to.

Everyone who says that, does not say the same.

I look at the moon and I don't see through it.

I have looked at the moon through telescopes and don't see through it.

Do you believe we have never been to space? Anyone who thinks this is an idiot. Especially the one who started this thread.

This entire thread is one giant troll. Nobody is this stupid.

He has explained nothing. How do you explain?

-every space craft launch in the last 60 years. I have seen multiple space shuttle launches, multiple atlas rocket launches in person. Where the hell are they going?
-the guy who jumped from space out of a hot air balloon
-ships not sailing over the edge
-if it is some giant conspiracy, how to you explain the individuals who sail around the world. Did they get to the edge and were told to keep quiet at gun point?
-gravity
-the sun rising in the east and setting in the west.

This would take a conspiracy like no other.

This thread is entertaining at best.

So you've seen them launch? They travel much further horizontally than vertically before "going into orbit"

Unless you're on one of the shuttles or rockets no one can really say.

If "Space" is a vacuum, how do you explain a rocket going to "space?"

Movement = Force applied against Resistance

If "Space" is a vacuum, how does a rocket work? Even if it could, it would be impossible to stay in a straight line. We've never been to "space." Ever. :facepalm

It proves we've been to space.

It proves the moon isn't transparent.

It keeps proving flat earthers are wrong.

We have been to space, we know what the earth looks like.

Is it possible that Hitler, like the 100+ countries before him, were on to something when it came to the Jews? I'm not saying the Holocaust never happened, but I'm just saying I don't believe anything I was taught about World history at this point.

America lost the revolutionary war and the South won the Civil War.

Obviously the bad guys won both World Wars

I've seen rockets launch in person too. They simply tilt and head out to sea where they are either retrieved, or they head somewhere private to land.

The guy that jumped could obviously see the earth was flat. The fish eye camera lens used shows the "globe," but the camera inside the cockpit shows the horizon perfectly flat. Oops.. They fucked that up, didn't they?

We're surrounded by ice. Supposedly Antarctica is only about 12,000 miles around. However, several explorers have documented 50-70,000 miles and a few years of travel to go around Antarctica. Now, you can't even get close as it's heavily guarded by a world treaty of Governments.
"In 1773 Captain Cook became the first modern explorer known to have breached the Antarctic Circle and reached the ice barrier. During three voyages, lasting three years and eight days, Captain Cook and crew sailed a total of 60,000 miles along the Antarctic coastline never once finding an inlet or path through or beyond the massive glacial wall!"
"The British Ship Challenger completed the circuit of the Southern region - indirectly, to be sure - but she was three years about it, and traversed nearly 69,000 miles - a stretch long enough to have taken her six times round on the globular hypothesis."

Using a compass. You sail around the world just as you would on a globe earth. Like a needle on a record...

Gravity is a theory that had to be created to indoctrinate the globe earth model into the masses. What goes up must come down wouldn't work on a globe earth as we're supposedly spinning at 1000MPH, so they had to create gravity to back their model. It's not real.

The sun appears to rise and fall based on perspective. However, it doesn't. There are tons of experiments that have proven this and can be found on YouTube or a google search. If the sun were 93,000,000 miles away as they claim, the rays would be 100% vertical. However, they are anything but... This is the easiest one to grasp for folks that think the earth is a globe. It wouldn't be possible to have rays like this from a ball as large as they claim and as far away as they claim.
