The odds of getting attacked are low, being attacked again are way lower. He can continue, the others should be scared. I wouldn't be that worried when out there for the comp, they had help asap.

Remember sharks don't intentionally eat humans so even if the shark had got a lucky Floyd Mayweather punch in and won he wouldn't have gotten a meal. He would've bit, and when he realized it wasn't a seal or another meal he liked he would abandon it.
