...that has succeeded a retired (franchise) legend and ended up being better player.

For example: NFL: Aaron Rodgers > Brett Favre

Go.

Who replaced Ray Lewis?

Finally Baltimore has a good MLB again.

If you have to ask who then that player doesn't qualify.

The gist of it is to name a player who succeeded a legend (Favre) and out performed that legend (Rodgers).

I don't think Ovechkin replaced a Washington Capitals legend, did he?

Luck will be better than Manning..I know it's a reach...but got that feeling

Brady over Drew Bleedslow may qualify

This is tough though...

well jagr was good but he wasnt in washington long enough to be a legend, and he became a ranger before ovi was drafted to the caps so i guess that was a bad example

Joe Torre replaced Bobby Cox once as a manager for the Braves. Both went on to become Hall of Famers. Torre exceeding Bobby's initial stint as Braves manager. Bobby's second stint was what got him into the Hall of Fame. Torre's stint as a Yankee manager was really what got him into the Hall of Fame though.

More to add to this. Mickey Mantle replaced Joe DiMaggio. Mantle was 1st ballot HOF 88% where as Joe was 3rd ballot HOF 88%.

Nothing crazy off the Braves really. Niekro kinda replaced Spahn but Spahn was way better.

If we are going coaches thats kind of easier actually

Bill Parcells was replaced by Pete Carroll who was replaced by Bill Belichick

That ends up being a three peat. Because Carroll may go down better than Parcells, and Belichick will go down better than both

If Peyton wins a Super Bowl with Denver, he still won't be a bigger legend then Elway. :justsayin

Bledsoe is not a Hall of Famer. I doubt Luck can match Manning statically. He better start winning some Super Bowls then. Manning is just a season away from being the All-Time Leader in all important statistical passing categories.

Yes. But his records will be broken by Aaron Rodgers, Luck, and probably a few other Qbs in the next 15 years. The game has evolved into insane passing numbers.

And Manning has one ring...so Luck doesn't need to win a ton of rings hah. Manning is the ultimate choke artist
