For taking over $3,000, per NCAA. Must repay a portion of the money as well.

Georgia running back Todd Gurley must continue to sit out two more games for accepting cash from multiple individuals for autographed memorabilia, the NCAA ruled Wednesday.

The NCAA said in a statement that Gurley, who has already missed two games for the No. 9 Bulldogs, would be eligible to return Nov. 15 against Auburn.

Georgia is nearing the three-week mark since Gurley, a star tailback who had been among the top Heisman Trophy candidates, was indefinitely suspended Oct. 9 while the school investigated allegations he received improper benefits for signing autographs.

Freshman Nick Chubb has thrived as the fill-in starter, easing concerns that a prolonged suspension of Gurley could end Georgia's hopes of playing for the Southeastern Conference championship.

Georgia (6-1, 4-1 SEC) has two impressive road wins without Gurley. The Bulldogs shut out Missouri 34-0 before beating Arkansas 45-32. The Bulldogs face Florida in Jacksonville on Saturday.

Gurley, a junior, has rushed for 773 yards with eight touchdowns and has averaged 8.2 yards per carry.

Sounds like Gurley was more worried about his pursuit of money with breaking the rules than pursuing excellence with integrity :sadyes

Sounds like Gurley was trying to get paid off his name just like UGA, the NCAA, memorabilia dealers, sporting good stores, and everybody else was.

The concept is shitty that they can't make money off their own name but these kids know what's at stake.

And.....what is 3,000 gonna do for him right now?

I say go get a credit card with a 10,000 limit. Get cash advance for 10,000. Make minimum payment until April 2015. Pay in full with signing bonus.

I agree with what you are saying about the 3 grand, but think about it. A kid on scholarship that has everything paid for him gets $3000 to do with what he pleases. $3000 just for signing his name. What does he really lose? Future money? Nope. Possible championship ring? Nope, he's still on the team. Lower draft placement? Maybe, maybe not. A trophy that does nothing but collect dust? Yep.

Yeah, I have no problem with it. It's a shitty rule and I honestly think that UGA could have covered this whole mess up like FSU, but they did the right thing.

Do you think Gurley should also do the right thing and explain what he was doing in a bar, underage, the night of the assault allegation? Should all players who have :420 or :drunk (underage) at any point in their career come forward and take their suspensions? Should every player who's had someone else write a paper for them come forward? If everyone did the stupid right thing, we might have to cancel games every week. :sadyes

It amazes me how many times I've heard different UGA fans brag about "doing the right thing", when they did the only thing they could do without the NCAA heading to Athens to sniff around for a month. Gurley got greedy, got baited, and got videotaped. There was no other option, unless they wanted to risk tUOS-like penalties.

Honestly-all selfish reasons. He shouldn't have done it for one reason. The other 84 players on that roster. It's a distraction and could have cost you games if the NCAA pushed harder. Same with the other 40 guys who supposedly signed autographs.

Its not a shitty rule. Youll have boosters paying recruits for autographs.

If he signs 3 more autographs for 20, he'll be square, and you know 20 won't turn him in.
