It all started when the Buckeyes were thumped by the SEC 2 years in a row in the big game.... People also started to notice the lack of competitiveness by the B1G in the Rose Bowl the past decade. That's the simple truth, no troll. When you get shown up once, maybe it was a fluke. When you get shown up twice, it's obvious.

Well Michigan fell apart and hasn't fully come back.
Nebraska could add power but they've been down for 12 years
Kirk holds Iowa in a stalemate of 7-5 years now
Michigan state is good enough to hurt the top of the big ten but not enough to be considered elite.
Psu is down and hasnt really been in a title picture in a long time
Wisconsin has been strong but they don't have the recruiting power of elite teams to really be in that group.


Big ten will be down until Michigan is back to a national power, Nebraska as well. Those are the three premier teams that need to be back up for the big to be great again. Or Michigan state or wisconsin need to get over the edge to elite status.

Acc needs Miami, Fsu, Vtech, clemson...those are their powers
Pac needs Usc especially, and oregon and Stanford have made the elite jump now. If Washington or ucla get back on their feet...watch out
Sec has lsu, uf, bama, auburn, georgia, tenn. They need four of these strong and generally usce or Arky replaces the other left out big six.


Basically the big needs the big boys...the power names back on their feet and winning big bowls and ooc games

tOSU was in the NC game 3 times. I guess only 2 of those games counted... In 2007 tOSU lucked into the game probably shouldn't of been there.

Hence, the reason I said "it all started when..."

Never said 2002 didn't count. I was just answering your original question.

A conference champ hasn't beaten an SEC champ since 05. It's a huge part of why the SEC is considered stronger. It's perception at the top. The SEC champ has not lost an OOC or bowl game since 2005(outside of the SEC vs SEC ncg)...that is insane. Big names were beaten in this process
06 - Florida beat Ohio State(Big Ten Champ badly), FSU in OOC(8-5 FSU)
07 - LSU beat Vtech(acc champ badly), Ohio State(big ten champ badly)
08 - Florida beat OU(Big 12 champ), Miami and FSU from the ACC
09 - Bama beat Virginia Tech(top ten at time), and Texas(Big 12 champ)
2010- Auburn beat Clemson, and Oregon(Pac-12 champ)
2011 - LSU beat WVU(big 12 champ), and Oregon(pac-12 champ)
2012 - Bama beat ND and Michigan

It's kind of been the fact that the SEC champ has been pretty dominate OOC that has the SEC being viewed as better. Whoever wins the SEC seems to be better than everyone else. It may not be true, but the evidence states it has been at least somewhat true because they haven't been since 2005..which 4 OOC games a year plus a bowl means 35 games OOC or in a bowl the SEC champ is 35-0 since the Georgia WVU game. 35-0...pretty strong case.
