College Football has been destroyed

Postby CraigKressel » December 19th, 2023, 7:39 pm

You can thank George Floyd for overdosing, Dr. Fauci, Gretchen Whitmer, Gavin Newsom. Retard Presidents running the NCAA and the greed of the SEC / Big 10 and players.

How dumb can these fuckers be to not have done something about all the shit college football is going through yet.

10 years ago they should have.

1. Allowed paid signings a few times a year up to a price limit of something like 10k a year where the university officials had to be present.
2. Allowed approved sponsors up to 100k a year and 20k for 1st year freshmen. Sponsor pays school, school plays player and reports it to the NCAA who and what it was.
3. Transfers are after the post season, could still do the transfer portal but it should be after the post season and it should be closed like 2 weeks before signing day.
4. Never added that new signing day.
5. Move awards to after the post season
6. Get rid of divisions
7. Limit commercials similar to NFL they desperately need commercial break limitations, this probably would have helped the big 12 acc and pac12 compete with the SEC and big 10 too.
8. The committee should have a live stream of all of their meetings on the internet for people to watch, why is it so secretive???? This is why people think it is rigged.
9. Opt-outs and players that leave early have to pay back their scholarship.
10. Pay the players a cut of the post season to incentivize them to play in it.
11. Pick the playoffs after the bowls, this would allow you to have smaller playoffs too 8 or 4 with less controversy and would keep players from opting out.
12. Get rid of CC week and replace it with 1 vs 2 2vs 3 on down in every conference for the last week. This would make all schedules even and make it so we wouldnt be whining and comparing teams with 12 games vs 13 cause of some stupid division rule like Iowa/Purdue playing Michigan instead of Ohio State.

I agree.

That's a conference thing. I still like the idea of them (or pods, I guess) for regionality and scheduling, not necessarily for some CCG berth. Unless your conference is too small for a CCG (<10 teams), you can't play all teams in your conference every year anyway. If FSU, UNC, and Louisville had gone undefeated in ACC play (it could have happened), there would have been a very messy ACC title scenario.

11. Pick the playoffs after the bowls, this would allow you to have smaller playoffs too 8 or 4 with less controversy and would keep players from opting out.

I'm not sure how that would work. It seems like top teams could just decline invites, which would make it exactly the same as how it works now.

Fuck all these shit bags. The NFL is already getting worse. Eventually it will finally go back the other way and teams of the past would easily butt fuck the current best teams if head to head when prime

Easy fix for the opt out of the bowl game by the team. You are ineligbile for the playoffs if you don't win the bowl game or at the very least participate in one the bowl game.

That scenario you laid out with the ACC is highly unlikely and you'd have a split CC in the ultra rare scenario that might never occur like they used to be the 3rd team would play the 4th team in the last week. No extra game required.

Can you name a time pre CC games where 3 teams in the same conference all went undefeated?

No, but that's because with two divisions (never heard of a conference with more) and playing every team in your division, at best there could be two undefeated teams in a conference before the CCG. The ACC ditched divisions this season and FSU, UL, and UNC didn't play each other and were at one point undefeated in ACC play (sometime in October, IIRC). Obviously they'd use tiebreakers if that continued to be the case, but it's not an ideal solution. That kind of rock, paper, scissors tiebreaker stuff is annoying and cost Texas in 2008 when they beat 0U but lost to Texas Tech.

As long as you have >2 teams that don't play each other in the same conference, it's a possibility and just because it's rare doesn't mean it never happened or never will happen. I mean the CFI was supposedly created so teams like 2004 Auburn wouldn't be left out in the cold. Obviously that was a crock of shit. Fuck ESPN.
