How many games in the last 10 years has Alabama been favored in and lost? If Alabama won every game they were favored in, they'd have the longest winning streak by a wide margin. On-the-field results matter. Alabama was better than Clemson in 2016 but it was the Tigers celebrating a national championship.

I could argue that FSU was the best team in 1989 (and a ton of other years they don't claim national championships in) but they had 2 losses. That's why pollsters didn't rank them #1 at the end of the year. Whether you think Alabama deserves to be ranked ahead of Tennessee or not, they certainly didn't earn it on the football field.

It was an evenly matched game with Hooker, and the UT crowd. Without Hooker Bama would win 9/10 times and that’s how they rank them.

Sadly you can say that for just about every game. Between him and Gibbs, they were 90% of our offense.

Next year is going to be a large question mark on where this Bama team is. Hopefully BoB is gone because Young called better plays than he did.
