Depression is a horrible disease.

Jonathan Brandis comes to mind: promising child/teen actor (I knew him from It (1995) and The Neverending Story 2) hung himself in late 2003. He was pretty successful throughout his career, too.

I'd bet Brandis got raped by some animal in Hollywood. Thinking that is the reason so many child stars grow up messed up now.
