SEC running backs in general have not had much recent success because they are playing tougher more physical defenses in college than say Pac12, B1G, ACC and even Big12 RBs? Because its not just Alabama RBs.

Name some premiere backs from the SEC that are dynamite in the NFL....




I can't think of any off the top of my head. Arian Foster I guess...

I know Knowshawn Mareno, Lacy, TR3, Ingram, Cadillac, Ronnie Brown, Brandon Jacobs, Stevan Ridley, Leron McClain, Ben Tate, Glen Coffee, Dexter McCluster, Vick Ballard, Zac Stacey, Darren McFadden, Peyton Hillis, Felix Jones, all played and started at one point. Or still are, but they aren't along the lines of oh lets say...

Among others... I think they get so banged up in college that its really hard for them to last a long time in the NFL. I could be just speculating from an SEC standpoint, but it angers me that someone as good as Trent Richardson can't be as impressive as an Alfred Morris, Lamar Miller, Roy Helu Jr, CJ Spiller, or any other RB that comes from somewhere else.

Was just looking at the Pro Bowl roster from 2013, checking out which conference the RB's were from, and the rosters were not saturated with players from the SEC.

It’s not just SEC RB's that are under performing in regards to their perceived expectations coming out of college
I don’t think it has anything to do with the physicality of the SEC, but more the fact that the media pimps out the SEC so dramatic that we as fans are brain washed as to expecting every great player from the SEC is going to be a star in the NFL.

It's simple. It's the same reason uf, Fsu, nor Miami make great pro qbs. Talent. Sec recruits better than every conference, and so when you play you're playing with elite talent all around you. I think it hurts overall development because you can simple out talent most teams including the lesser sec which are very weak. You don't get the challege of equal competition but 2-3 times a year so once you get in the NFL where everyone is as good as you, you're not used to it.

This totally explains Big Ben, Brees, Alfred Morris, Randy Moss, and Alex Smith... All were or are consistently productive throughout their careers, all played for non AQs

So are you saying that right now, Stephen Morris and Jeff Driskel would be great NFL QBs because they don't have that Elite talent at receiver? :dog

And no it wasn't homerism there have been notable SEC RBs in the last decade or 2, but your top 5 would never consist of one if ANY SEC RBs...

I did notice that the SEC has a TON of Oline and Dline players starting and being successful in the NFL.

It's true. The Tennessee rb is the best of sec runners. Tennessee produces the best of the nfl talent. We deserve a ring or trophy for that. Fsu
