I was running the latest version of Android on a Galaxy S2, and this is when the S4's were out and my S2 was over 2 years old. It ran perfectly fine. Actually, it ran better than it did on the older Android.

But don't worry, Apple will probably copy that from Google in about 4-5 years, just like the "new" Apple Pay and the "new" phablet.
