Interstate sales tax is the dumbest fucking thing ever.

I was shopping on Amazon recently and decided to buy from a smaller seller because the item was much cheaper used and not from Amazon. I checked to make sure it was in another state (no sales tax). When I went to check out, I was quoted some bullshit estimated tax. Evidently in 2021 these dogshit FL legislators decided to tax fucking everything for consumers, even interstate or international sales. And all of state tariff "Amazon taxes" happened in the last 5 years and is borderline illegal (but they're still doing it).

A lot of the generic info was from 10-15 years ago:
https://www.pcmag.com/archive/internet- ... tax-262880

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer ... G202211260
2021 for FL? Thanks, Desantis. :finger

This is fucking wrong.

This is a direct result of South Dakota v. Wayfair (2018).

FL joined a growing list of states doing this.

Annoying as fuck with the business I do. I rarely know when I'm going to get hit with these taxes, so I either have to eat the cost or file in every city/county/state I sell to, which is pretty much any one with a hotel.

:boo

SCOTUS is full of dildos. Sorry you have to deal with this. It hurts consumers and sellers and only benefits state governments. I know I was in no way tempted to rummage around some local used store like Goodwill just to find what I was buying ("No sales tax is unfair to brick-and-mortar stores!"). I was just pissed off.

Now I have to pay FL some bullshit tax/tariff because a guy thousands of miles away is shipping something to an address in FL. Makes sense cents.
