Any good TV shows?

Postby Muck FcDisney » January 26th, 2023, 3:22 am

I've recently watched:
Severance - Fucking awesome (starts kinds slow though)
Peaky Blinders - Loved it
Wednesday - I know this is probably made for middle school girls, but I liked it (Tim Burton)
Counterpart - Not unique, but interesting. Makes you think.
The Peripheral - Similar to above, but in a more gamer nerd kind of way.
1899 - Meh

Started watching The Last of Us (HBO Max). Started out okay, but already starting to feel like every dystopian, post-apocalyptic/zombie video game I've ever played (show is based on a dystopian, post-apocalyptic/zombie video game).

I'm open to new shows, but I prefer ones that have already ended so I can watch from start to finish. I get bored and lose interest when I have to wait a week to watch more. I really liked Black Mirror and Love, Death + Robots, but I watched those years ago.

What you got? :bringit

I only have been rewatching shows

The Wire
Community
Parks and Rec
Always Sunny
South Park
Malcom in the Middle
The Middle
Black Sails
Tacoma FD (from super troopers)

I know a lot of people who watch Yellowstone and like it but I haven’t watched any of it yet.

Banshee: might be the most underrated show ever because its name is just not great. Best opening scene to a series I've ever seen.
Spartacus: just fucking awesome. Both are 10/10 shows.
The Wonder Years
Chuck: amazing soundtrack and Yvonne Strahovski.
Everwood: Gregory Smith and Emily Van Camp just knock it out of the freaking park... at least in Season 1.
Family Ties: Alex P. Keaton
Futurama: nerd shit.
Gotham
Heroes: Hayden Panettiere. Kristen Bell. Missy Peregrym. Super powers.
Skins (UK)
Smallville: amazing soundtrack. Sarah Carter stole the fucking show in S3E14 Obsession, S4E11 Unsafe, and S4E12 Pariah.
Superstore
The Pretender: one of the best shows of the 1990s and one of the first shows with great overarching plots.
Burn Notice: actually similar to The Pretender, but set in Miami with more bikinis.
Vikings
Justified: modern Western. Seeing Olyphant as a protagonist after The Girl Next Door and Die Hard 4 takes a bit of getting used to.
Scrubs
The X-Files
Shameless (US): need to be in the right mood. Emmy Rossum.

I could name more. Seriously if you haven't seen Spartacus or Banshee, watch one of them. Fucking amazing shows. Smallville and Chuck seriously have the best fucking use of music I've seen in TV. Just fucking great.

I respectfully disagree... especially with Season 3. The Boys desperately wants to be in that "original series" great shows category, but it just isn't. It relies on shock value and cultural commentary rather than plot or characters. You don't even get to see much at all of Erin Moriarty. A waste of a TV-MA rating.

If you want to see Antony Starr (Homelander) in a great role, watch Banshee.

I’ve seen Banshee and it’s pretty good too.

Futurama and Scrubs are great as well.

We watched Santa Clarita Diet and liked it.

The Righteous Gemstones.

Justified is another good one that’s finished with Timothy Olyphant

So, in the first 2 minutes of Banshee, dude gets out of jail, fucks some chick at the bar, and steals a car. In the next 5 minutes he narrowly avoids death like 2000 times. Show is like watching someone else play GTA.

I think I need :cocaine to watch this one. Unfortunately, I don't want to die of fentanyl OD, so that's out... :sigh

I love rewatching shit though more than trying to find something new.

I’m guessing you’ve seen The Ozarks?

Ashley and I liked PeaceMaker overall.

I watched Stranger Things. Great show but the last season is like June 2024. I’m over shows though that don’t continue for 2 years. Fuck that.

Also watched The Recruit, Reacher, Queen of the South, Narcos. My wife says Outer Banks is good.

Reacher was not great acting but great action, decent plot. Also, the lead went to my high school.

I’ve seen all the Star Wars series. I’m a huge Star Wars fan.

Yellow Stone is good.

Most of those are ongoing.

Disney's Star Wars is not Star Wars. :finger Disney.

I don't care how much people swear The Mandolorian is the best show on Disney+ (as if that's a high bar). Some friends made me watch a few episodes and it wasn't all that. Disney can eat shit for how much they ruined a franchise that for decades was good and treasured.

I was skeptical about TFA and was bitterly disappointed when I left the theater. I managed to sit through Rogue One (in multiple Netflix sessions) and despite the hype, it's still not great. In TFA, they blew up the fucking Senate, which, until that dumb movie, was on Coruscant. It's the political and cultural center of their fucking galaxy-wide civilization. They never bothered to explain that the Revenant or whatever the stupid fucking new bad guy forces were called blew up some other planet they made up for the movie that doesn't matter. I was a Star Wars aficionado and I was absolutely floored by how calm and nonchalantly they acted like blowing up the center of the civilized universe was all like "Well, that sucks." I had to look it up on the Web later to figure out what actually fucking happened there. Awful storytelling.

And they shut down Lucasarts. Disney can go die.

I don’t disagree.

I watch it to keep up with the back story/storylines.

Andor was terrible. Obi-Wan Kenobi was bad also and made him look like a pussy.

I did like The Mandolorian a little better.

I only watched it once so don’t even remember it all that well, but yeah I think it started a bit slower. Bateman did a great job in it though.

There’s also a scene where Ben Davis (in Banshee as well) acts out a bipolar(?) scene and he’s just amazing in that scene. That’s one of the main scenes I remember from it.

Honestly when I watched it…. I was attracted to her as well. I’d never do anything with her because of her age, but I told my wife and sis n law that it was just something about her that I liked.
