Tornado coming through atm. It’s just below us, but the county next door has some huge hail that might get us.

Looks like I get to wake up to this storm in the morning.

We had two more small but very active storms come through just a bit later.

Now we have a chance of snow in the morning but it isn’t going to stick.

Glad you're OK.

Kudos for going with Cricket and not with the big names that rip people off. Most of my family is on Verizon. I'm on Google. Under $30 a month for me.

:hug

Yea we were with ATT up until 4 years ago or so. We swapped over to google fi with my older bro and then when we moved back to Bama we went with cricket. We pay $60 for both of ours together.

Fuck all the bigger companies. Sooner or later it’ll be about 5-10 companies owning everything in America.

that rip people off

Google Fi is not a big name when it comes to phone carriers, either. Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile are the big names... and even T-Mobile has decent pricing.

You can get Google Voice for free, too, but there's no data plan.

As usual, it depends where you use your phone. Fi actually uses both T-Mobile & US Cellular networks. I rarely have connection issues. Mountains are bad for most cell signals, too.
Thankfully cell phone service isn't nearly as region-locked as cable providers.

Just driving across the state I would lose service all the time on t mobile. They may have gotten better but Verizon and At&t were obviously waayyyyy better with coverage at the time. I’d even lose service in certain parts of Memphis back then

I've had T-mobile for over 20 years. No issues. :dunno

Well you must not travel outside the city or anywhere remotely rural at all. If by no issues you mean you don’t lose service.

I guess I'm just used to that/expect it. I used to drive around 1,000 miles a week and my service would get cut off, but not for very long, maybe 10 minutes while driving tops. But I never strictly used T-Mobile. I rarely talk more than a minute or two at a time while on the road anyway. I mean considering how bad cell phone reception was in the late 1990s and early 2000s, coverage is amazing. It's still weird to me to think of receiving signal in an elevator. Wifi helps, too.

I've been to areas where Verizon doesn't even work. I had an appointment in a small town and the client joked that they were out in the boonies compared to where I was driving from. I said compared to half the places I'd go, it was a big city. Paved roads are still a luxury in some places. :banghead

I used to carry two phones. One for personal (Verizon) and one for work (T-Mobile). T-Mobile never worked. Verizon always worked. Now I carry one phone for both. LOL

My residence is rural. There's a 5 mi stretch in south Alabama where I don't get service, but that's it.

Don’t hate the playa! LOL

Work gave us the phone for free. I only used it for work emails, gps, Internet and so on. I actually used my personal phone for calling, texting customers. I store all my customer’s contact info in personal phone. (So when/if I ever left, I handed them a phone with none of my customers info in it).
