Can a plane take off on a treadmill? :thought

I still don’t know the answer to that fucking question

The answer is no. Everyone says it’s yes because the wheels don’t provide the thrust for the plane. But the fact of the matter is that if the plane is not moving through the air (the way a treadmill works, you aren’t moving forward, it’s not a fucking runway) then it’s not creating lift. Period.
ericberry14 wrote:When I ask the question can a plane take off on a treadmill the implication is that the treadmill is big enough to hold the plane but not much more so just like the normal use of a treadmill it’s going the same speed as the person(plane) on it. If it’s a runway that has a conveyer belt on it sure. But that’s dumb

So you frame it as "can a plane take off on a treadmill only slightly longer than the plane, not allowing the plane to move forward?" That wouldn't be possible even if the "treadmill" was not moving. And you think the idea of the runway being a conveyor belt is dumb? The length of the treadmill is not specified. Bottom line: a plane can take off on a treadmill... unless that treadmill is unreasonably short.

No it can’t. How far can you run on a treadmill if it’s turned off… a plane can’t take off on a treadmill. A plan can take off on a runway with a really long conveyer belt sure. A plane can’t take off on a treadmill that is a reasonable size compared to the size of a plane. Period. You’re mad. lol
ericberry14 wrote:The question isn’t. Can a plane take off on a moving sidewalk like they have at airports. People are stationary on a treadmill. A plane would be too and it wouldn’t take off. Obviously. There is no lift. Have you ever seen a treadmill? lol
it’s not the same thing and a plane being blown away by strong winds is not a plane taking off on a treadmill either lol you’re wrong and that’s okMuck FcDisney wrote:ericberry14 wrote:Muck FcDisney wrote:ericberry14 wrote:When I ask the question can a plane take off on a treadmill the implication is that the treadmill is big enough to hold the plane but not much more so just like the normal use of a treadmill it’s going the same speed as the person(plane) on it. A conveyor belt and treadmill are the same thing, just used for different purposes. Again, the length of the treadmill is not specified. A plane can take off on a treadmill. :moon
