One of them was saying that she didn't design anything, but ArcGIS was the software. That's like saying this director/editor didn't create a movie, FinalCut Pro did. While it's definitely possible she didn't design the dashboard she claims, saying ArcGIS did it is really, really dumb.

Florida is supposedly ranked 27th in COVID deaths, but has the 3rd-largest state population behind CA and TX. It seems unlikely that FL is 27th unless they're using some percentage of deaths rather than total or a cherry-picked period of time. FL has a huge elderly/high-risk population compared to most other states. FL was coincidentally the 27th state to join the USA. IDK if the writer(s) just got those two mixed up.

That's not what it says at all. It says:

A more accurate analogy would be an accounting person at a small company claiming they "built QuickBooks from scratch."
Jones claimed, in the msnbc propaganda piece, that she "built the original dashboard." She took an existing platform and tweaked it to fit FL data.
Jones claimed she "built the data in the first place." This is false. Other people (actual scientists) gave her the data. She performed basic data entry. With better organization, her job (after essentially picking out the wallpaper for the ArcGIS Dashboard, would be obsolete. Scientists, or a moderately intelligent 5th grader, could upload the data directly.

There's a reason Florida paid ArcGIS $3000-$5000 for the work Jones takes credit for.

The Reason article (via National Review, which is Neocon trash, imo) does state that "by all accounts, Rebekah Jones is a talented developer of GIS dashboards," so she probably deserves more credit than I gave her. But that doesn't change the fact that she's a liar, con artist, and trash human being.

Florida's results are comparable to CA, and far better than NY, NJ, and several other states, despite the snow birds, spring breakers, and aging population, even without all the draconian economy- killing restrictions. And cases/ deaths in Texas have been in stark contrast to Biden ("neanderthal thinking") and Fauci's ("just give it a few weeks") predictions from nearly 3 months ago.
