I think it's more that I hate the fact that people act like undrafted military grunts are heroes when they literally signed up for that crap, and the USA hasn't been seriously threatened since maybe the 1940s*, and even then it was just a distraction invasion into Alaska and a few explosions in Oregon. Nobody in active duty is "protecting our freedom."
* Unless you count the Cold War. But soldiers aren't really active in that case.
Not sure you what you mean by Alaska and oregon? So volunteering to serve after 911 wasnt anything?
