Spoiler:
Although he allegedly didn’t pay after multiple dinners, the man who has become known as the “Dine-and-Dash Dater” might have to pay with jail time if convicted on four new felony charges.

Paul Guadalupe Gonzales, 45, was charged with four new felony counts of extortion, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. One felony count of grand theft and one misdemeanor count of petty theft were dismissed.

Gonzales pleaded not guilty to the new charges at a hearing on Friday, Sept. 7, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

He now faces 11 felony counts of extortion, two felony counts of attempted extortion, two misdemeanor counts of defrauding an innkeeper by non-payment and one misdemeanor count of petty theft.

Gonzales was arrested in late August in Pasadena. His bail was set at $315,000 and he is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The District Attorney’s Office said Gonzales is accused of dining with women he met through dating apps and leaving without paying for any of the bill. Gonzales allegedly had meals with people in several areas of Los Angeles County, including Pasadena, Long Beach, Burbank and Los Angeles between May 2016 and April 2018.
In two instances, the restaurants allegedly picked up the check after Gonzales left his dates alone, officials said. Those businesses are among the victims names in the criminal complaint.

Gonzales faces a possible maximum penalty of 16 years and 10 months in county jail if convicted as charged, the district attorney’s office said.

The case remains under investigation by the Pasadena Police Department.

Paul should simply say he identifies as a woman, or is "gender fluid". A few heads would explode, then all charges would be quietly dropped. :D
