I was thinking of getting a 4K TV this year, but if cable companies like Dimhouse don't have 4K channels why get one now? Am I missing something? Perhaps for games, but I don't do gaming.

the motion and refresh rate are amazing, and there are some blue rays that make the most of it

but even video game systems (except maybe some pc games) dont put out that type of quality, so its a waste of money until the software/channels catch up to the technology

My thoughts exactly. I like to wait a year so 1.) any kinks can get worked out, and 2.) related tech catches up (assuming the idea caught on).

not to mention that these curved screen tvs weigh more than the flat screens, thus some wall brackets wont work

I have one, but only because at the time I bought it it was cheaper than most of the 1080p models I was looking at.

I paid $530 for 55" vizio with a free sound bar system. Not the best of the best, but was in cnet's and rtings's top 10 for the size. At the time it was at least $500 cheaper than the others on the list.

It was a headache dealing with the customer service from the place, but in the end it was worth it. :yes

Do you like the sound bar? After a little research I decided FUCK THAT. I would have had to raise the TV or put the sound bar on top, or the remote wouldn't work.

The tv is low enough that that the sound bar doesn't block the tv at all. I did think it was a fail though that a vizio sound bar doesn't fit underneath a vizio tv :facepalm (they do make a similar product with a slightly different name that does fit though I believe)

Sound wise, huge difference when watching movies. I usually shut of the back speakers when watching sports because it just sounds like the PA guy is speaking right into my ear

How much was it and is there a monthly fee as well? Also, how is it with live sports?

Under $200. No monthly fee. I watched every Buccs game this year. Just make sure you have good Wi-Fi. Box updates itself. Just be patient with it. I had to learn about pirating tv but its fucking awesome.

6 years later and I still don't see the point of buying a 4K TV, at least not one that's under 60 inches and probably won't easily fit through a freaking doorway. What channel or movies can you watch in 4K that are significantly better than what you see in 1080p? Do you need a telescope/microscope/binoculars to tell the difference?

Anyone have one of those "home theater" audio setups with something like 8 speakers scattered around a room? That makes even less sense to me than 4K TVs.
