I don't think I really back in, but I usually pull in if 2 spots are open in front of each other where I can pull right out.
Easier
Faster

You either do it before or after.
If you say well, " its harder to pack into a tight space, than back out into a open aisle"
You could also say well "you have more risk of backing out in front of someone, or actually hitting somebody walking in the parking lot, but when you back into a spot, those cars aren't moving around that maybe on either side of the spot.

no difference to people who can actually drive

Yes there is a difference.
Doesn't matter how good of a driver you are if some jackass is speeding through the isles and not paying attention and hits you because you're backing out between two suv's and you're in a car and or the subs have tinted windows.
That's like saying you'll never be in a wreck of you're good at driving.
So because you're good at driving you can stop some drunk fucking moron from blowing through a red light'or stop sign?
You can stop someone that was too busy texting or putting on make up from swerving out of their lane into yours and swiping you
You can stop someone from hydroplaning and hitting you head on?
