I read a great post about this which I totally agree with:

"I watch a ton of boxing and have for many years and congrats Mayweather, now hurry up and get that record and retire and take your defensive boxing with you. Your dad couldn't even fire you up to do anything more than you've always done...your dad understood the importance of the fight but you are a turtle boxer (a master no doubt) and couldn't make it a Sugar Ray Leonard-Duran fight or the other greats. You are a master at defense and very smart boxer, arguable the best at that, yes but when you retire you won't be in the masses' memory as a great...your name will be brought up when talking about defense and your undefeated record.

That one fight could have done a lot for boxing to help it but I think it hurt it. Casuals and new people to boxing got on board for this fight and because of Mayweather's style and fear of fighting (more power to him, makes perfect boxing sense and I don't fault him) they probably said, this is boxing/fighting? He is what he is and I understand that, don't get hit and win is the basic name of the game but he will never come to mind as one of the great overall fighters.

So go Mayweather and enjoy your undefeated record and loads of cash but please go because you being a main attraction is not good for boxing. It's not his fault, he is what he is, it's boxing fault for not having enough boxers that can carry boxing on their shoulders like in the past, I'm looking at you heavy weight division. "

Floyd mayweather is an artist in the ring. People want to complain about the fight but I'm pretty sure they've never seen Floyd fight. He got hit with one good punch over 12 rounds. The dude is the best if this era and maybe ever. If manny didn't fight so scared we may have seen a knockout but people still would have been upset because it would have been the wrong guy getting knocked out. Would have loved a Ricky hatton repeat performance but Floyd is a defensive counter puncher. And he's the best ever at that no doubt
