Goaltending has definitely changed.

The players in net in general are bigger, and the pads are slightly bigger as well - both play a part in decreasing goal scoring overall.

Still, there just hasn't been a phenom like those 2 in a long time.

yea the butterfly technique really changed goaltending, and obviously the pads have gotten bigger, it seems like the stick is also bigger , and the fucking glove is massive compared to what it used to be

those are probably the biggest changes, i still believe gretzky and lemieux would dominate todays NHL

i agree they are bigger, the pads glove and stick make more of a difference in my opinion, combined with the butterfly technique that did not exist until the mid 80s

the save %'s have skyrocketed to the point that almost everyone is over 90% and anythingless than 90% is considered mediocre

in the 80s 90% meant you were winning the stanley cup

the retard hypocrisy behind the whole farce is that the league keeps changing rules to make the league more offense heavy like eliminating the two line pass and increasing the powerplays

but all they really need to do is make the goalies pads and glove smaller...
