"According to the union's own material, the average dockworker makes $147,000 in annual salary and pulls in $35,000 a year in employer-paid health care benefits. Pensions pay $80,000 a year.
... The ILA is asking for a $5-an-hour raise for each of the six years of the new contract, which means the hourly rate could reach $69 by 2030. The union is also asking for better benefits and is opposing the use of automated technologies at ports. ... The work stoppage, the first for the East Coast ports since 1977, is expected to affect more than 50% of U.S. imports. A prolonged strike at the ports could lead to major supply-chain disruptions right before the holiday season. J.P. Morgan analysts estimate it would cost the U.S. economy between $3.8 billion and $4.5 billion per day." Oh, no! The "poor" dock workers! :eb Meanwhile, the average American (who makes about 1/3 what these fux make) gets more inflation! :rockin Dockworkers... [ img ] |

WTF?
USMX reportedly made a new offer to the ILA on Monday afternoon that would've raised wages by nearly 50% over the new contract as well as tripling employer contributions to retirement plans, better health care and kept language about automation in the deal. Sources told FOX Business that the ILA rejected the offer and didn't make a counter. |

Once the strike is over, it will cost more to ship, so prices will go up again.
And retards will blame "greedy corporations"... again. If retards get their way, they will write laws making shit even more expensive. And retards will blame "greedy corporations"... again. This is why we can't have nice things. :suicide |

You can blame both if you want, but to try and defend the corporations… |

Eh... Just hire non-union mofos. I'm sure there are a ton of people that would love to get paid over 100K to move boxes.
I've never had strong feelings one way or the other about unions. They seem just as greedy and harmful as the companies they're supposed to protect the workers against. |

I’m hearing the real reason why the dock workers are striking is because they’re tired of hearing children cry who are being trafficked.
