...and so does Google.

Google Fi is fucked for physical SIM users. Apparently this is an issue with other providers changing their towers (in my case, likely T-Mobile) and the partitioning of the SIM is not correct. So I can't do shit with my "official" phone number: no calls, no texts, no data. Nothing. Kaput. Zilch.

I initially wasn't too worried about it as I've gotten that error before and re-placing the SIM usually worked and I have a Google Voice number as a backup that I almost never use. So I can call and text for free, but I don't have mobile data and need WiFi to do calls and texts. That's not a huge issue as I'm almost always on WiFi anyway.

The problem is when you have fucking MFA and you only have a phone number as the second factor because the shit site (Amazon) can't/won't/didn't/wouldn't allow USB keys. So now I'm dealing with the headache of trying to change my phone number on my important accounts like banking. I can't do the bank thing except in person, which is good for security, but also really inconvenient. And most services will have you use the old phone number to verify the new one. Fucking fantastic :insertsarcasm

Evidently others with this problem have been down for over a week or more. Google has no real clue how to fix it, or if they do, it's probably some pricing issue with the carriers they're piggybacking off of. Fucking stupid fuckers.

I’ve done my best to keep my phone number. Hopefully I never have to change it.
