Murray, who made 32 saves, was 1:11 away from what would have been his 10th shutout of the season and fifth in a row when Springfield left wing Dana Tyrell scored in the third period. Murray broke the record for longest shutout streak of 268:17, set by Barry Brust of the Abbotsford Heat in 2012. He earned his fourth consecutive shutout in a 3-0 victory against the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday. The third-longest streak belongs to Hockey Hall of Fame member Johnny Bower, who went 249:51 without allowing a goal with the Cleveland Barons in 1957. Murray was Pittsburgh's third-round pick (No. 83) in the 2012 NHL Draft. He is 18-8-2 with a 1.57 goals-against average. His nine shutouts tied the AHL's mark for shutouts by a rookie. Flower didn't play today. Why not?
And neither did Cindy even though she warmed up in the pre game. Malkin got KO'd in the first minute, and your boys got shut out. |
